Specialists have been brought in to measure how quickly Hunstanton’s cliffs are eroding.

The new project will use specialist laser measuring equipment to monitor how fast and where erosion is taking place.

In the Wash Shoreline Management Plan, published last year, it was judged the cliffs could erode as far inland as the B1161 Cliff Parade by the middle of this century.

It is believed the system, which employs a “grid” of electromagnetic sensors, could save billions of pounds and have a positive effect on millions of lives around the world by predicting exactly which parts of coastal areas will be eroded. (more…)
