Eastbourne Herald: “A vision for the coastline over the next 20 years”

RESIDENTS can view information on how the coastline of the Lewes District is set to change during the next 20 years.

The district is part of a pioneering national pilot scheme to give the public online information on how the coast is changing.

A new set of web pages will provide information on how coastal erosion is expected to change the coastline in the next two decades.

The pages will also detail how the coast is being managed by the Environment Agency and the local authorities, as well as what coastal defences are in place. (more…)

SMP Consultation Website

Drs Richard Kingston and Adam Barker, University of Manchester’s School of Environment and Development, have launched a website where citizens and organisations can view maps showing how various coastal areas will likely be affected by rising seas. The maps also provide links to proposed policies for the North West England and North Wales Shoreline Management Plan as well as to a form for offering public comments on those proposals. (more…)
